Greystone started in 2009 with one truck, a borrowed table saw and a rented bay behind the industrial park. The bay is now our shop, the truck has been replaced twice, and the crew has grown to eleven.
We built the shop so we could stop apologising for millwork.
For the first six years we ordered cabinets and trim like everyone else, and spent half of every job waiting on a delivery or explaining a damaged door to a family living out of a cooler.
In 2016 we put a spindle moulder and a panel saw in the back bay. Now doors, vanities, service counters and heritage trim profiles are made 15 minutes from most of our sites — which is why our schedules hold and why a broken part is a two-day problem instead of a six-week one.
The rest of the business is deliberately plain: one lead carpenter per job, written change orders, a swept site, and a phone that gets answered between site visits.
